The Hyundai Lateral Drift Championship returns to Aseana City along Roxas Boulevard for the penultimate round of the 2013 season this Saturday, November 16.
In Round 4 last October, the up and coming commercial center played host to biggest Metro Manila-based drift track the championship has ever seen in its eight-year history. This paved the way for a lot of high speed drifts and exciting tandem runs, which proved the top caliber of local drifters. Thus, the series is returning to this venue with an even more challenging layout.
Watch the country’s best drifters battle it out sideways on track this weekend. Pro division points leader and Pilipinas Got Talent Season 4 Finalist Gio Rodriguez of Team Atoy Customs will be hot on his heels to keep his championship hopes alive. Meanwhile, six-time champion Alex Perez of Team Yellow Cab Drift, 2011 champion Audel Sison of Team Autocraft Drift, Boodie Dabasol of Team GMW, and the lone female drifter, Tin Tin David also from Team GMW will surely try to take the title away from him.
In the Amateur Division, EJ Malibiran holds a very small lead in the championship, followed closely by Rob Tan, Dan Javier, and Mark Bernardo. But with two rounds left in the 2013 season, consistency will be key to winning the title.
Japanese judges Hiromi Kajikuma and Kimihiro Obata, with our own Jason Choachuy, will once again come to selected only the best of the best drifters. They’ll also preform drift demos using the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, which is 2012-2013 Car of the Year Philippines’ Best Rear-Wheel-Drive Sportscar awarded by the Car Awards Group Inc.
Aside from all the action, Stance Pilipinas will also be present to celebrate their Anniversary where they’ll collect donations for typhoon Yolanda victims. The donations will then be dropped off at the GMA Network after the event.
Rain or shine, action will start this Saturday at 8 Am for Practice, followed by Qualifying at 11 AM, then Amateur Division tandems and finals at 2 PM, and finally Pro Division tandems and finals at 4 PM.
Admission is absolutely free to all spectators.
